Who Can Apply to Be a Mentor?

To be considered for the NorthCARD Mentorship Program, applicants should meet at least three of the following criteria:

Expertise with Depth
Minimum of 10–15 years of experience as a senior professional, educator, researcher, innovator, or advisor in a relevant field.

Demonstrated Mentorship or Leadership
A track record of mentoring, team-building, capacity development, or thought leadership that has positively shaped individuals or institutions.

Recognized by Peers
Acknowledged by respected organizations, academic or industry bodies through awards, publications, leadership roles, or advisory contributions.

Note:
Mentors from non-traditional backgrounds — including entrepreneurs, policy advisors, public sector leaders, or independent experts — are highly encouraged to apply if they bring demonstrated impact and influence.

How to Apply as a Mentor

You can express your interest in becoming a NorthCARD Mentor through one of the following pathways:

  • Nomination by a NorthCARD Fellow, Mentor, or Member

  • Self-nomination, supported by a brief letter of intent and a professional reference

  • Recommendation by a recognized institution or organization in your field of expertise

Don’t have a nominator? No worries — you can request a brief conversation with a member of the NorthCARD Mentorship Committee to explore your fit and contributions.

What to Expect During Evaluation

All mentor applications are reviewed holistically by the NorthCARD Mentorship Committee.
